Post-doctoral Fellow: Gut Microbiome and Mucosal Immunology
LIH - Luxembourg Institute of Health
The Post-Doctoral Researcher will work on ongoing and newly developed projects investigating host-microbiome interactions at the gut mucosa interface. The work involves gnotobiotic mouse models, synthetic gut microbial communities, samples from patient cohorts, and key international collaborations. The Post-Doctoral Researcher will participate in an exciting bed-to-bench-to-bed translational research program in the ‘Nutrition, Microbiome and Immunity’ headed by Prof. Mahesh S. Desai.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct research project with sufficient guidance, yet enough independence to design and execute the experiments
Participate in multi-disciplinary research projects that will potentially open job opportunities in both academia and industry
Carry out experiments using gnotobiotic mouse models and samples from patient cohorts
Co-supervise students in the lab
Develop scientific methodology and techniques adapted to the research project
Present research work in leading international conferences
Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications
PhD degree in microbiology, immunology, or molecular biology with a strong interest in mucosal immunology
High level of motivation for research, attention to detail, independent critical thinking, and writing skills
Language skills: fluent in English
Desired skills include experience with flow cytometry, models, cell culture, immunologic assays
