Job Details
A postdoctoral position is available in Kai Wucherpfennig’s lab at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The project focuses on the development of novel immunotherapy strategies based on discovery of major resistance pathways. We are particularly interested in therapeutic targets relevant in multiple cell types in the tumor microenvironment, including T cells, dendritic cells and cancer cells, because targeting of such pathways can enhance immune function while sensitizing cancer cells to immune attack. An example is our discovery of the epigenetic enzyme CARM1 as a resistance pathway: inactivation of CARM1 in T cells enhances their anti-tumor activity, while inactivation of this enzyme in cancer cells sensitizes them to T cell attack. Our research integrates investigation of tumor immunity in clinical specimens with in-depth mechanistic analyses in relevant mouse models. The lab and our department offer a vibrant and stimulating environment for research in immunology, and we have ongoing collaborations with a number of outstanding translational and clinical investigators.
